What is La Stone?LaStone Therapy is trademarked style of massage created in America that uses both heated volcanic stones AND frozen marble stones to massage the body. La Stone Massage Techniques: LaStone use 54 hot stones, 18 frozen stones, and one room temperature stone. The style of massage is the massage therapist's choice. Benefits of a La Stone Massage: La Stone is a thermodynamic massage treatment. Some of the healing effect is due to the fluctuations in temperature caused by the heated and cooled stones. La Stone when correctly done, not only soothes muscular aches and pains but also opens the energy centers of the body and balances the chakras. It is a detoxifying treatment and stimulates and relaxes the circulatory system with dramatci movements of fluids within the body created by the thermodynamic effect. History of La Stone LaStone was developed in 1993 by Mary Nelson, a massage therapist and native of Tucson, Arizona. She is incredibly generous and spiritual. She calls the stones the Stone Clan People and that combined with her training in Lomilomi makes for a fantastic and memorable massage. She is devoted to both the physical/anatomical aspects of La Stone as well as to the energetic aspects of this massage technique. La Stone Massage Training: LaStone can only be performed by massage therapist who is certified to be a LaStone therapist. Standard La Stone training is two days for a basic course. There are many levels of courses. Hot Stone massage requires stones to be heated upwards of 180 degrees. You definitely want someone with solid training touching those same stones to your skin. What Happens During a La Stone Massage LaStone therapy begins with gentle stretches and Swedish massage to warm up the body's muscle tissue. You sit up and your massage therapist places two rows of heated stones on the massage table. The therapist covers them with a soft towel to protect you from the heat, then assists as you lay back down on them. The heated stones will be on either side of your spine. Then medium to large heated stones of varying weights are placed on the torso and forehead corresponding to the six chakras. Heated pebble-sized stones are placed between your toes and medium-sized flat stones are placed under your palms. Then the fun begins, your massage therapist will massage you with both hot and cool stones as an extension of her massage technique. Your La Stone massage will begin face up and will end face down.. La Stone is much more comprehensive than a simple hot stone massage. There is a spiritual component to La Stone where your massage therapists has an active relationship with the stones.
